Patience, Grasshopper!

The sun has been shining the last couple of days after a cool spell. Bumblin’ Bee had been off work all week and it is really hard to not open Bob to see what’s going on in the hive. They have only been in the new hive for 19 days and he is still trying to be hands off. He added feed yesterday, but with the top hive feeder he didn’t really “open” the hive.

Week One New Package Inspection

The first week has passed since we added the new package bees to our new hives. Our new starter frames have foundation so the bees should have been busy building comb.

Hive Bob bees seemed very productive and happy. Bumblin’ Bee did a 5-6 minute inspection and they were very calm. Frame 6 had 90% comb build up, uncapped honey, pollen, and the queen. It was great to see Continue reading “Week One New Package Inspection”
