I checked on the newest swarm hive this morning and they look happy and are setting up house. I removed the branch and added 2 more frames to fill out the hive. I also noticed they are building new comb around the frame of brood I added 2 days ago.

I checked on the newest swarm hive this morning and they look happy and are setting up house. I removed the branch and added 2 more frames to fill out the hive. I also noticed they are building new comb around the frame of brood I added 2 days ago.

I’ve always heard Carniolans have a tendency to swarm. I now believe it. Yesterday I caught the third swarm from the same hive. This one was the second day in a row. Luckily they were lower to the ground, and I’ve become quite experienced in the last week, so it wasn’t that big of a chore.

I captured my second swarm yesterday. It was a little tougher because it was higher up in the crabapple tree and over the shed.
