I captured my second swarm yesterday. It was a little tougher because it was higher up in the crabapple tree and over the shed.
It was a pretty big cluster.
This happened around 2:00 p.m. Unfortunately they didn’t stay around. When I went back to move them at dusk, they were gone. Big bummer!
I think I made these mistakes, which were things I didn’t do the first time-
- I used an 8 frame box. Too small?
- I added frames and filled the box immediately. Did that overcrowd them so they thought the space was too small?
- I added an entrance reducer. Did that inhibit the majority of the bees from joining their sisters?
